The Obstacle of Fear
There are a lot of things that might scare you. Spiders? Snakes? The dark? Heights? There are lots of different fears that we all have that are there to protect us from harm, danger, or possibly protecting us from being uncomfortable. Recognizing fears are very important because they allow us to know our limits. But when it comes to dreaming big dreams, nothing should get in our way!
What are your big dreams? Do they scare you?
You know you have big dreams when they are dreams that scare you! Maybe you want to publish a book someday, but you are too afraid to even write some ideas down. Maybe you want to go back to school, but you are too afraid of even looking at what you have to do to get there. Taking our dreams from inside our head to a reality is a process.
Write it down. It all starts when you write down what your real and biggest dreams are. This simple self inventory with yourself will help you to realize what you want to accomplish. This might include having to narrow it down. If you have a lot of dreams, list them from simplest to the most difficult. This helps you better understand what dreams may take more time. Once you have this list, make a plan!
Making A Plan
From the list that you created, pick some of the goals or dreams that you want to start working towards today. You might start with a smaller dream so that you can see how it feel. Or, you might take one small step towards your biggest goal! Both are excellent choice and BOTH are a step of progress and effort. Make a plan that focuses on "how" and "when" you will work towards these goals. If it includes waking up a few minutes earlier to get something done, try it and see how you feel. If you try something and it doesn't work, try again! Now this is something easier said than done, but it is worth your while.
When The Fear Comes, Do it Anyways!
Now, by this point you have your plans laid out in front of you with certain goals highlighted, underlined, or circled and it is in this exact moment when the fear begins to settle inside of you. It might start with the feeling of "What am I thinking? I can't do this" or "This is crazy. What am I doing?" These questions are 100% normal, but! Do not let them stop you! You were made to dream big and you were made to accomplish whatever you have written on your list. Knowing this, all it takes is your honest effort to take the necessary steps to get there.
When the fear continues to come and tell you that this is "impossible" or "too much," Do it anyways! Do it scared! Working towards are dreams are scary! They require faith, trust, persistence, confidence, and flexibility. That is what makes them so worthwhile.
You got this girl! Put that scrunchie in your hair, make your list, make a plan and do it scared! Fear will always be there, but remember you get to choose what actually affects your perspective and attitude!
