It all started with a gift. In 2009 my sister Linda was given a pair of handmade wool sweater mittens to bring her relief of her Ranauds disease. She was finally warm and free of pain all winter.
They built beautiful products and gained loving customers. After 5 years they were off to Arizona to take care of Grandma. And handed the business off to me. They couldn't stay away and were still making wool scarves with Grandma and Aunt Suzy in Arizona.
I spent hours and late nights cutting sweaters in my tiny townhouse garage. With a space heater and snow pants and lots of help from friends...more mittens were made. I almost quit after 3 years. I worked hard to make the business feel like mine. I rebranded and built a social presence. I added products for my baby and kids. I created products I wanted...like the Cabin Socks. But even after all of that I was exhausted and still not able to pay myself.
One evening I felt overwhelmed and desperate for some inspiration and direction. After being on my knees I looked to scripture for comfort. My little girl had been flipping through the pages earlier that day and left it open to Proverbs 31. I started reading and this scripture is what stood out. I had never heard this ever. I decided to stay. How many times does someone get a sign from scripture that says to seek wool...REALLY?!
Within the next year we created scrunchies and found our message of Create Joy despite the Flaws. I took our message to women across the nation. Telling my personal stories of finding the Joy despite difficult life experiences has brought me more purpose and fulfillment. Getting to know other women and sharing their stories has lit up my world and many others. The company had its message all along. We were always creating Joy from the flaws. We were always looking past the holes, looking at the greatness and making the unimaginable out of terrible situations.
It might have taken many years to find our message...but I am so so glad to be here. I feel so grateful to have found myself in a company that has a message that is changing lives and providing beautiful products.
